Anna Maria Smylie’s Interior Design background extends over 15 years, stemming from Fine Art & Design, specialising in Interior Design at The City & Guilds of London Art School 2007-2008 and completing a Bachelor's Degree in Interior & Spatial Design at the University of the Arts London. Her broad wealth of experience includes working on a wide array of projects during her time at award winning Interior Design Studios, prior to establishing Anna Maria Interiors in 2015.
Exploring the relationship and capacity of Interior Design to produce and enhance therapeutic outcomes led Anna Maria to a direct design purpose - focusing around the clients user experience, by researching routine and the intended daily use of each space. “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us” - a quote that resonates with Anna Maria along her journey. Her approach gravitated towards a tailored personal design service, bespoke to each clients and project's requirements.
Immersing herself in the process, incorporating mindfulness into the design experience by evaluating routines, eliminating the unnecessary and including pieces or zones of meaning that would make up part of their every day environment. For example locations for natural light in relation to furniture and joinery, locations for symbolic artwork, clever storage, discreet socket etc.
Her role is to achieve the desired lifestyle and ambiance within each space for her clients by selecting unique items and finishes sourced globally, as well as incorporating innovative technology, solutions and designs
. The striking final results are timeless, inspired anywhere from Nature, History, Travel, to Architecture and Art.
The most recent luxurious high-end residential projects have been based in and around London and within the Essex ’Golden Triangle’. Previous projects have also extended overseas to The Channel Islands, Russia, Ibiza and Monaco.
